Isiaiah 54 Children Sanctuary
Started 26 years ago by Glynnis and Keith Dauth, Isiaiah 54 has grown over the past 6 years and we have been able to distribute items to needy families and assisting other organizations. We also help pregnant girls and Birth Mothers who are in need of a safe place to stay while deciding which direction their lives are going, encouraging them to find employment and a place to stay so that they can improve their lives.
The main focus in the beginning was to assist Abused and Abandoned Children and take them into a family environment, thus teaching them good family values, and hopefully changing a traumatic cycle in their lives. Teaching them to Love others no, matter what the circumstances. The motivation for opening the sanctuary was due to life experience and the love that we have to share with those in need.
We have 3 full time staff members, Aunty Zama, who has adopted one of our abandoned babies and has a daughter of 20, Youandi, who is from Holland, and has come to volunteer for 3 years and after that stay in SA for good and Glynnis the founder of Isiaiah 54.
Isiaiah 54 Children’s Sanctuary:
A family home for Abused and Abandoned children. Children are brought in by Welfare Officers or Police in a trauma situation (Crisis Care), and stay with us while the Social Workers do their investigations.
The children in Crisis Care stay anything up to 8 – 10 months with us and then move onto biological family, Foster Parents or Adoptive Parents. We cater for children from Birth to 15 years. At any one time we can have up to 6 crisis children, we are open 24 hours for emergency placements as well (these children are brought in by the Police until such time as they can take them to court and place them either with family or into other places of safety), we also have 7 school going children. Glynnis & Keith have adopted 3 boys and 1 girl, 15,11, 6 & 11 respectively. The sanctuary opened 26 years ago.
Amina Helping Hands:
A distribution unit which distributes all the excess clothing etc. that cannot be used at Isiaiah 54, to other organizations and needy families / communities around South Africa.
